Thanksgiving Photo Ideas for Your Little One
We all want to indulge in the holidays as they roll around, which is why a Thanksgiving photoshoot is such a popular idea. Photos for any occasion are a great way to document your kiddo in each stage of their life, so why not add a little holiday spin?
Holiday photos are adorable for not only you, but to share with your family as well. You will look back on these each holiday season and be so glad that you have them. Plus, holiday photos make great holiday decorations!
So, if you’re looking to have a Thanksgiving photoshoot and need a couple ideas, look no further!
Here are our ideas…
Turkey in a Pot
When you say the word “Thanksgiving,” I know that the first thing that pops into my head is “turkey.” With turkey being a staple of Thanksgiving dinner, why not take a cute photo in celebration?
A popular idea for your Thanksgiving photoshoot is to model your little one after a turkey in a pot. You can do this by finding a pot large enough to fit them in and surrounding it accents.
Ex: kitchen utensils, mini pumpkins, carrots, etc.
Now, you can place the pot onto the stove for this photo, but this may pose a falling hazard. We all know that babies are really wiggly and accident-prone as it is. Instead, why not set the pot on the ground with a pretty wooden backdrop?
Once the stage is set, put your little one in a turkey hat or costume and place them in the pot for an adorable photo!
Plated Thanksgiving Turkey
There are so many ways that you can incorporate turkey into a Thanksgiving photo shoot for your little one. The pot idea is one of my personal favorites, but another great spin on this is to make your baby a plated turkey.
The plated turkey idea is awesome because it allows you to add more detail in your back drop and set up the table in whatever theme you like. This makes for a more coordinated, and elegant (I know it sounds silly talking about a baby dressed as a turkey on a plate) photo compared to the turkey in a pot.
All you have to do is dress the table in your favorite plates, candles, or tablecloth and then set the center as the focal point. Find a plate large enough to fit your little one (plastic is recommended so glass breaking is not a concern) and garnish it with kale, tomatoes, or parsley.
Cornucopia Baby
Cornucopias are a signature decoration for Thanksgiving. As a table centerpiece or just a small decoration on your counter, cornucopias are a great Thanksgiving accent piece. Not only does a cornucopia offer a nice decoration for your home, but it makes a great prop in a photoshoot for your baby!
All you have to do is find a cornucopia decoration that is large enough to fit your little one, put them in a festive hat or headpiece, and surround the stage with accents of grapes, squash, or pumpkin.
How cute is that?
Tip: If your kiddo is a toddler and a little bit too big to fit in the cornucopia, consider just letting them hold it or sit behind it.
Thanksgiving Pie Baby
It’s no secret that one of the best parts of a Thanksgiving feast is the sweets. Pumpkin pie, apple pie, blueberry, they’re all delicious!
Using this signature dessert item is a great way to stage an adorable baby Thanksgiving photo. Set up a table (or the floor with a wooden backdrop) with all kinds of pies on stands as a prop. Here’s where it gets fun… Give your kiddo a piece of pie to smash up, play with, and eat!
Messy cake photos are a popular photo idea for babies and toddlers, so why not sub in a pie to make things festive instead?
Outdoor Thanksgiving Photoshoot
If you want to keep things a little simpler, taking your little one outside for the shoot would work perfectly. Everything you need is already in nature, so you are able to save some money too!
All you have to do is dress your little one up in a nice sweater, find an area of ground that is really dense in leaves, and try to capture them playing in them! It’s simple, cute, candid, and festive, I mean, what else could you ask for in a photo?
Tip: Adding a hay bale is super cheap, but also a great way to add detail to the photo. Seriously, you can find these for like $1.
If you decide to try one of these, we would love to see your photos. Tag us in your Thanksgiving baby photos on social media!
